27-30 April 2017
Villa la Vigie, Monaco
In SEE••DS’ installation for NOMAD, the designers were Jochen Holz, a German glass blower, and Odd Matter, an experimental duo based in Amsterdam and obsessed with new materials. They interacted, respectively, with glass and copper, realising new pieces in dialogue with the space of La Vigie. Cumuliform by Holz is a neon light installation using free blown, oversized borosilicate tubing: they each work like luminous clouds, emitting a mesmerising fluffy light. In the 100 HOURS project, objects are made from an extensively galvanised and electroplated copper mesh to transform the soft mesh into rigid overgrown pieces. At NOMAD, Odd Matter presented the first functional object realised with this technique they only recently started experimenting with.
